Ingrid Yuzly Mathurin

"I am a Haitian-American self taught Visual Artist.  My work is known for its vigorous use of color and portraiture.  I am presently exploring text in graffiti form and merging plants and flowers into my art due to my background in urban farming.  My first pieces were graffiti, text, and tags.  My artistry is interpreted through the use of acrylic & oil paint, where I create my own paint colors with pigment and also use spray paint.  Iā€™m currently researching and fusing performance, installation art and film photography with a focus on African and ancestral spirituality.  In the fall of 2021 my forthcoming solo exhibit will focus on influences from African deities and my experience as a Haitian American woman overcoming abuse & being a teenage mother.ā€ - Yuzly
